What a fantastic weekend of events in Dunshalt!
Friday night was our Dunshalt tradition - The Duck Race...well done to the lucky winners and a massive thank you to the helpers and supporters! It was lovely to see so many people out on the bridge to cheer on the ducks
Today was our annual Summer Coffee morning and village fete! What a fantastic turnout for both! It’s so lovely to see both the Village Hall and the lovely new playpark filled with people - such a lovely community spirit! We are still counting but it looks like we will raise around £1,200 which is fantastic.
Again, a massive thank you to the committee and fundraising group who have been planning this for months and have worked hard to put it all together today, amazing effort! Thanks again to Kettle Produce for their kind donations and to everyone who took the time to donate to the raffle and the bake sale, buy the home bakes and enjoy the fun on the stalls - thank you!
Thank you to Nethermyres Farm Shop for the amazing donation of fresh veg, so many people commented on how fresh it was and the Tomatoes were delicious
And finally a big Thank you to Bruno’s top nosh who joined us today and served up the yummiest Pizzas, drinks and cakes! Today was their first day out (not that you'd know as they are pros!) Highly recommend people give them a follow! We are already discussing future events with them and wish them all the best on their adventures

The south facing Hall roof has been causing problems for a number of years, and nearly every winter we've had tiles broken or dislodged, causing significant water ingress issues. We were successful in our bid to the National Lottery for funding to replace this part of the roof and the work has just been completed. We are very grateful for their support to not only replace the roof but to use clay tiles which are more in keeping with the Hall and also look nicer than their concrete counterparts. We are also grateful to our contractors who completed the job in a week with minimal disruption to passers by or Hall business. And the weather gods shone on us too!!

Over the summer of 2024 the Hall underwent a significant transformation. Beforehand the floor was badly damaged, there was water ingress damage at a number of locations, the decor was a dated 'hospital green', the curtains and photo frames round the walls were falling apart and many of the seats were badly stained.
All of this has been remedied, with grant aid from Fife Council. The sterling efforts of a team of local volunteers saw the floor sanded and refinished, plaster repaired, the space redecorated in a modern colour scheme, the curtains replaced by blackout roller blinds, the Old Dunshalt photos reproduced on lightweight foam board and the chairs professionally valeted.
This adds to the ceiling insulation, replacement lighting, WiFi installation, cloud based heating control and door locking systems completed in recent years to make our Hall a modern, warm and welcoming space for a whole range of activities.
