The village park is very popular with both villagers and those from further afield due to its secluded location and wide open spaces. It is the location for the annual village fete and in recent years has hosted a sunflower growing competition and 400 hedging shrubs were planted round the perimeter by local children.

In 2019 members of the Association met with Fife Council officials to discuss the state of the playpark as some of the equipment was nearing 'end of life' and becoming potentially dangerous. We were advised that we would need to be fully involved in any plan to re-develop the park, and that the first step needed to be a public consultation.

This took place in February 2020 with children, parents and grandparents all playing their part in coming up with a ideas and suggestion on what the new park might look like. This was then submitted to Fife Council.....and COVID struck!

Roll forward to 2023 and the project was fully revived, with a draft playpark design and proposed budget in place. With the design settled we now needed to raise £3,000 locally to supplement bids to major potential funding bodies. Of these we were successful in being awarded £30,000 by Fife Environment Trust, which meant that the funding was in place for the project to commence.

Over the first four months of 2024 a series of very successful local fundraising events - Quiz Night, Coffee Morning, Live Music Night, and Craft Destash took place. Local seniors donated their Ferguson Trust Christmas Voucher. A large public Prize Draw attracted significant prizes from a range of organisations and businesses. Local Residents made personal donations. Local businesses agreed to become Gold or Silver Sponsors for the project. Large donations were received from Cupar and Howe of Fife Rotaries. In the end we smashed our original target and raised over £8,000.

With all the funding now in place the project moved on apace, and tenders for the work were sent out by Fife Council. In due course the contract was awarded, the equipment was ordered and although it took a bit longer than hoped for work finally commenced in September 2024.
