Many congratulations to Dunshalt resident George Carmichael who celebrates his 100th birthday on 26 April 2021.

George has many memories of growing up in the village which was a very different place in his youth, with no electricity, water from the Well Green, unmetalled roads and thatched houses. He is a keen golfer and began his golf at Auchtermuchty Golf Club in the late 1920s, then at Ladybank after he returned from the war, where he served in the RAF in France and Burma. George attended Bell Baxter High School and also played rugby for the Howe of Fife. His working life was as a professional engineer in Edinburgh.

He returned to the village four years ago to be near his family. He enjoys his walks around the village recalling its many shops and other businesses, his school friends and neighbours and relating his fascinating memories from that time.
