Many older maps have now become available online, and a study of maps of Dunshalt dating back to 1636 provides a fascinating insight into the development of the village over almost 400 years. Of particular interest is how the name of the village itself has changed over that period, appearing variously as Dunshalt, Dunshelt, Denshelt, Dunshill and Dunsherley. The table below provides links to (almost) all the available maps, both in snippet (hover, click) and full map (click on map title) forms.
